Mike Egan, Managing Member

After a 27 year career in finance at Sprint, Mike took an early retirement in 2009 to launch a new career.  Shortly after his retirement, he agreed to help a friend, Debbie Haynes, manage Hillside Village on a temporary basis.  He became quickly engaged in the business and ultimately ended up becoming partners in the business with Debbie.  Mike is a hands on owner and is onsite every day.  He believe that onsite ownership is one of the primary advantages of Hillside Village.  Mike lives in Lenexa and he and his wife, Lori, have four college age children.  Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from Iowa State University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.

Todd graduated from Central Missouri University in Warrensburg with an accounting degree in 1994.  He then began his career in finance at Sprint where he gained not only financial knowledge but IT experience as well.  After Mike took over management of Hillside, he quickly sought the expertise of Todd for not only his financial skills but his IT system knowledge as well.  Todd quickly became an integral part of Hillside Village.  After working in various roles at Hillside Village, Todd decided to get his Kansas Adult Care Home Administrator’s License.  He completed his AIT program hours at Evergreen Community of Johnson County and then completed his exam in 2013.   Todd's compassion and caring for both the residents and staff of Hillside Village are what sets him apart in the long term care industry.  Todd lives in Overland Park with his wife, Dawn, and two children.

Peg Wessel, RN, DON

Peg Wessel, RN, DON

Hillside Village is fortunate to have Peg Wessel as our Director of Nursing.  Peg is a RN with over 30 years of nursing experience.  Since Peg joined our team, she has worked diligently to make improvements in our facility.  Her positive impact on survey outcomes is recognized industry wide.  Peg became interested in long-term care when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer-type dementia in the late 80’s.  That personal experience has aided her in understanding clinical issues involved with senior residents, but also the personal issues families experience when placing or having their loved one live in a senior community.  She ensures residents’ families know every aspect of their loved one’s care.  Peg's experience as the Director of the Skilled Nursing/Acute Rehab unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital enables her to be an advocate for our residents during any required hospital stays.  To Peg, working as a DON is not just a job – it’s an opportunity to ensure quality care for our very deserving residents.  Peg lives near Baldwin City in the beautiful Vinland Valley with her husband and has two grown children.
