About Us
Hillside Village of De Soto, situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, is conveniently located just minutes from Lawrence and the Kansas City area. We offer 38 Assisted Living apartments with several floor plans and 49 Skilled Nursing beds, all of which are Medicare certified, and accept Medicaid for all three KanCare providers. Hillside Village staff provides onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy and is available six days a week.
We are locally owned and operated with the owner onsite daily. We have been awarded the Five-Star Quality rating by Medicaid which CMS created to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. The Nursing Home Compare website features a quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars.
Hillside Village is taking all required COVID-19 precautions to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. We are currently at 100% vaccinated for our residents and 99% for our staff. This puts us in the top 10 facilities in Kansas for vaccination rates.

Congratulations to Heidi Collins, CNA, who was selected as CNA of the year by the Kansas Health Care Association (KHCA)! She is so deserving due to her dedication, compassion, and care she has put into her work here at Hillside Village.
She was recognized at the KHCA annual convention/meeting on Friday, September 30th in Mulvane, Kansas. We are so very happy she received this honor!
Peg Wessel, Director of Nursing/RN
For the past 9 years, Peg Wessel has coordinated a Back-to-School party for employees with children in kindergarten through 5th grade. This amazing event takes the whole team at Hillside Village pitching in to ensure a perfect treat for our employees’ children. Mike Egan, Owner, generously provides each child with a bag of school supplies and personally hands them out to each child. They also receive a cake and goodie bag. For the past two years, this event has been a drive-through event due to COVID-19. We had a beautiful day for this year’s event and residents were able to watch the children as they received their supplies.
Assisted Living
Hillside Village assisted living residence adjoins the skilled nursing community. The assisted living features 38 apartments ranging from studios to spacious one bedroom suites.
Our assisted living options will provide residents with the ability to be independent, but receive assistance when needed, while still maintaining dignity and respect with all the comforts of home.
Community features include multipurpose areas for social and recreational activities, large screen TV for games & movie night in both the living room and dining areas, comfortable settings for games & cards, hair salon, library, large lobby & reception area, attractive dining area, off-street parking and free laundry facilities.
Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care
Hillside Village has dedicated facilities for skilled nursing care and rehabilitation. In addition to our staff of certified professionals, residents benefit from amenities like a multipurpose room for social and recreational activities and a full service beauty/barber shop.
Private, semi-private and deluxe semi-private accommodations are available. Hillside Village offers in-house therapy services and accepts move-ins seven days a week. Hillside Village is Medicare certified.
